Music Faculty Recital and See/Hear Unveiling

Starting off in the Performing Arts Center Richard Joseph sang “O Sole Mio” by Capua and “If I Can’t’ Love Her” from Beauty and the Beast by Alan Mencken. Both songs were musical serenades that filled the room.
Next, in a jazzy transition trumpet player Sam Bergstrom and guitar player Geoff Senn lead the group to the Courtyard for the next performance.
Cello player Joel Slaver and flute players Kay Wieland and Melissa Bergstrom preformed the classical piece Concerto for Two Flutes by Antonio Vivaldi.
For the last performance, guitar trio, Jeff Thygeson, Sam Bergstrom, and Jason Vanselow performed Rondo by Paul Hindemith and L’Evasion by Astor Pia.
Lastly, Sam Bergstrom and Geoff Senn played “When the Saints Go Marching In” and lead the group to the Music Building to unveil Daniel’s piece of artSee/Hear and the new soundscape collection.
Daniel Dean stands in front of his piece See/Hear. See/Hear responds reacts to the local soundscape much like an equalizer. The music department is starting its own soundscape archive that will include sounds created by ARCC students.
Daniel Dean stated that there is noises ranging from “polka music to lutheran hymns” contained within the soundscape collection. According to the music department local art is on display that resembles all the noises within the archive.
