Elias Youngblom, Professor Tracy Youngblom Turner’s son, was in a serious car accident on March 16. The 23-year- old was driving near Fergus Falls when a suspected drunk driver hit him in a head on collision.
“Elias was and still is very seriously injured. We have learned that he wasn’t expected to make it; he has turned that corner, but his recovery will be long, “said Professor Turner.
Updates on Youngblom’s Caring Bridge site show that he has both good days and bad days. Although Youngblom did sustain serious injuries from the accident, Professor Turner is hopeful for his recovery.
“He is recovering from surgery to repair his facial fractures and now that that’s a few days behind him, the staff is going to keep trying to wean him off the ventilator, which will take some time,” Professor Turner said.
Elias is kept sedated and on pain medication which, according to Turner, helps him not feel too much pain.
Professor Turner is understandably going through a hard time, but stated that she is doing okay overall. She said things have been stressful, but that her family members have been helping each other out. She is thankful for the substitute teachers who have stepped up to help with her classes.
Professor Turner has asked to keep Youngblom in your thoughts and prayers.
