Softball Completes Three Game Sweep
March 27, 2023
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Golden Rams put on a hitting and pitching display this past Wednesday, March 22, at the M-Health Fairview Dome in Blaine by winning all three games by shut-outs. The Golden Rams beat highly touted Northern Division foe Itasca 6-0. Then the team followed this up by beating Mesabi twice 19-0 and 15-0.
There were many hitting stars up and down the line-up. What was most impressive offensively was the way the team scored with two outs and delivered with runners on base. This had been a couple areas that Head Coach Dave Alto said that needed to be cleaned up, and it most certainly was on this day. In addition to scoring 40 runs on the day, the Golden Rams delivered 39 hits by the entire line-up. “It was great to see such production from every hitter,” said Coach Alto. “We work very hard on our approach, and I am glad to see all of the hard work pay off today.”
And let’s not forget about the stellar pitching that took place today as well. All three pitchers pitched like rock stars. The day started with Molly Gross giving up a lead-off single and then striking out the next 10 batters in a row. That would be the only hit that Gross would relinquish all game. She also finished with 15 K’s. Next up was Lyla Galli who changed speeds and had pin-point accuracy. Galli would only surrender two hits while striking out six and walking zero. Finally, Maddie Bottineau was one batter away from pitching a perfect game. A bloop, 4th inning single would spoil this bid, but Bottineau was unfazed as she finished with 9 K’s.
Anoka-Ramsey CC is now 10-9 on the season.
