Golden Rams Have Win Streak Snapped

The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Basketball team saw their four-game MCAC win streak snapped with a 62-54 defeat on the road to St. Cloud Tech on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams jumped out to a 15-2 lead and looked primed to stay unbeaten in league play before the Cyclones began chipping away at the deficit.

SCTCC pulled within five points with 3:25 left in the first half.  Tristen Lee knocked down a three to extend the lead back to eight 26-18, but SCTCC closed the half on a 7-0 run as the Golden Rams led by one at the break.

The Cyclones pulled ahead 32-29, and extended the lead to 47-39 with 7:35 left.

Anoka-Ramsey got back within three points after a Rodney Owens layup, 49-46 but the Cylcones answered with a 9-2 spurt to take a double digit lead with 1:37 to go and Anoka-Ramsey couldn’t get any closer than a two possession game from there.

The Golden Rams shot 35.7 percent overall, and just 3 of 18 from three.  SCTCC won the rebound battle 31-28.

Owens finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Lee scored ten points off the bench.

Anoka-Ramsey falls to 9-6 overall, 4-1 in the MCAC and are tied for first in league play with St. Cloud Tech.

Next up is a home game on Monday, January 30 vs Rochester.
