The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Basketball team shot a blistering 17-37 from the three-point line (45.9 percent) on their way to a 93-79 win over Central Lakes to open the 2022-2023 season.

The Golden Rams hit 12 first-half threes and led 50-34 at halftime.

Matthew Ellingson got the hot shooting started with a three to open the game, followed by consecutive 3’s from Manny Jinco, and another from Steven Colon to give Anoka-Ramsey an early 12-8 lead.

Jinco followed with another three as the first five made shots for Anoka-Ramsey came from behind the arc.

CLC tied the game at 15 apiece before a Chaz Franklin three sparked a 7-0 burst for the Golden Rams.

Following a Raider free throw, Colon knocked down consecutive threes and added another one minutes later for a 33-23 lead.

The lead stayed in double digits until CLC cut the deficit to eight, 74-66, with 6:37 to play.  But another 7-0 burst from Anoka-Ramsey extended the lead back to 15 and the Raiders didn’t threaten again.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 47.8 percent overall and forced 21 Raider turnovers.

Five players reached double figures in scoring led by Colon’s 19 points on 5 of 10 from three.

Jinco added 17 points, Ellingson scored 15, with Jacob Say (12) and Ellis Todd (10) chipping in double figures as well.

Anoka-Ramsey is 1-0 and is off until Thanksgiving weekend.
