The Anoka-Ramsey Women’s Basketball team got off to a hot start for the 2022-2023 season with stifling defense.  The Golden Rams held Central Lakes to just 19.2 percent shooting in a season-opening 76-33 win on Saturday afternoon.

Anoka-Ramsey also forced 40 Raider turnovers and pulled in 30 offensive rebounds.

The Golden Rams led 18-11 after the first quarter but held Central Lakes scoreless for the first five minutes of the second quarter and led by as many as 18 points in the half.

Central Lakes trimmed the deficit to 37-22 early in the third quarter before the Golden Rams went on a 13-1 run and led by 25 after three quarters.

The stingy defense continued in the fourth as the Raiders managed their first field goal five minutes into the period.

Anoka-Ramsey was led in scoring by Destiny Casey with 22 points.

CeCe Bell scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

Janae Arnoldi scored 12 points off the bench and added 13 rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey is 1-0 and will play the Hamline JV on Tuesday November 15th.
