The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Soccer team defeated Riverland 1-0 on Sunday to claim the NJCAA Region XIII Championship.

The Golden Rams and Blue Devils battled for 90 minutes, trading goal chances that wouldn’t find the back of the net, resulting in a 0-0 tie after regulation.

One minute into the first extra time session, Riverland was called for a foul inside the box giving Anoka-Ramsey a penalty kick.

Ty Modaff stepped to the line and knocked in a low shot to the bottom right corner past the Riverland goalkeeper, and advanced Anoka-Ramsey to the Midwest District tournament.

Anoka-Ramsey will travel to Harper College in Palatine, IL with a chance to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.  The Golden Rams will play at noon on Friday, October 28 in the semifinals.
