The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Soccer team faced off against MCAC rival Riverland on Saturday, with both teams entering the match undefeated in conference play, and the Golden Rams came away with a 2-0 win.

The shutout was the second straight for Anoka-Ramsey, one each for goalkeepers Francis Chepsiror and Reece Lawlor.

Claudy Zau scored both goals for the Golden Rams in the first 45 minutes as Anoka-Ramsey controlled the game from the outset.

In total the Golden Rams put 12 shots on goal against the Blue Devils.

“Playing Riverland will always be a great game for us,” said head coach Qassim Ilmi.  “They are always organized and are a very attacking mindset team.  Our boys are playing their best soccer right now and having back to back shutout wins shows that.  Our goal is always to protect our home field and we have done that.”

The Golden Rams improve to 3-1-1 overall on the season, and will travel to Duluth to face Lake Superior College on Wednesday, September 21.
