After their Thursday games were canceled due to rain, the Golden Rams had a busy day on Friday as they played three games, finishing 2-1.

The first game saw the team take on Rowan College – Gloucester. The Golden Rams dominated throughout most of the game, with Emma Bright 3-5 at the plate with a double and the first HR of the year for the Golden Rams. Molly Gross was 3-4 at the plate with a double. Sunny Strait also recorded 3 RBIs. At the end of the sixth, the Golden Rams led 6-0, but things would change dramatically as Rowan scored two HRs and six runs in the inning. In extra innings, Rowan scored twice in the top of the eighth. The Golden Rams answered with Sunny Strait, Molly Gross, and Lyla Galli, as they recorded three straight RBI singles to give the Golden Rams three runs and a 9-8 victory in eight innings. Molly Gross was the starting pitcher for the Golden Rams, striking out four while allowing six hits. Lyla Galli picked up the win for the Golden Rams as she stepped in for the eighth inning.

Coach Dave Alto said that he was extremely proud of how his team “came from behind in the bottom of the eighth to get the win!” After this win, the Golden Rams improved to 1-2 on the season.

In the second game of the day, the Golden Rams faced Hocking Community College. They were in control until lightning forced them off the field for a 90-minute delay. They rallied to score two runs in the sixth inning, but came up short, losing 6-8. Emma Bright again stood out offensively, as she was 2-3 at the plate and also recorded three stolen bases and two runs. Lyla Galli was the starting pitcher after picking up the win vs Rowan. She struck out four while allowing eleven hits, ultimately picking up the loss despite pitching well for the majority of the game. After this loss, the Golden Rams fell to 1-3 on the season. Alto was proud of his team’s effort despite the loss, saying that they “battled until the end and just came up short”.

In the final game of the day, the Golden Rams took on Monroe, dominating in every phase of the game. Starting pitcher Sunny Strait struck out five while allowing six hits and just one run, picking up the win. As a team, the Golden Rams hit .375. Emma Bright was 3-3 at the plate with two triples and two RBIs. Sunny Strait was 2-3 at the plate, also hitting her first home run of the year. Hailey Babcock was also 2-3 at the plate. The Golden Rams scored six in the 3rd inning and never looked back, ultimately winning 14-1 in just five innings. It was a great way to close a long day of softball for Anoka-Ramsey. When asked about the game, Alto said that it was a great win, with the team displaying “wonderful pitching, defense, and hitting. It was awesome to see all three phases of the game come together after such a long day at the park.” With this win, the Golden Rams move to 2-3 on the year.

After their first day of games in Florida, the Golden Rams are 2-1 in Florida and now 2-3 on the year. The Golden Rams will play at least two games on Saturday.
