Men’s Basketball Prevails 71-68 over M|State

The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Basketball team pulled out a 71-68 road win over M|State Fergus Falls on Wednesday evening behind a strong defensive performance.

The Golden Rams held the Spartans to just 6.9 percent shooting from the three-point line (2 of 29) to pull out the victory.

M|State led by eight at halftime, but the Golden Rams closed to within 51-50 with 12:28 to go following a layup from Terrell Fountain.

The Spartans would go back up by six, 56-50, before Anoka-Ramsey made their move.  A 10-0 gave the Golden Rams a four point lead, but M|State would tie the score at 60-60.

Josiah Remus-Ford and Devin Wade-Henderson each scored to push Anoka-Ramsey back ahead by four points.

A late three-point play from M|State got the Spartans back within one 69-68 with seven seconds to go, but Ontario Chapman made two big free throws for a three-point lead, and the Spartans three-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 46.6 percent overall and made 10 of 23 threes.

Wade-Henderson scored 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting.  Elijah Mead added 14 points knocking down four threes.  And Jacob Say chipped in with 13 points and five assists.  Chapman led the Golden Rams with 11 rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 12-10 overall, 5-4 in the MCAC Southern Division and will travel to Minnesota West on Saturday, February 5.
