The Anoka-Ramsey Women’s Basketball team hosted a Top 5 matchup when the Minnesota West Lady Jays came to town and secured a 72-51 win over the Golden Rams.
The Lady Jays controlled the game inside shooting 48.1 percent overall while holding Anoka-Ramsey to just 29.2 percent. MN West held a 17-3 edge in made free throws.
Minnesota West took control early before Anoka-Ramsey tied the score at 21-21 early in the second quarter, but an 11-0 Lady Jay run put the visitors back in control.
Anoka-Ramsey trailed by 11 at halftime and pulled within eight points in the third quarter, but could not get any closer.
Sydney Hazuga scored 18 points making 5 of 11 three-point attempts.
Mariam Alowonie scored 15 points on 7 of 11 shooting overall to go with seven rebounds.
Anoka-Ramsey falls to 11-6 overall, 1-1 in the MCAC Southern Division.
