The Anoka-Ramsey Women’s Basketball team wrapped up their regular season with a narrow loss to #1 ranked Rochester 54-49 on Wednesday evening.
The Golden Rams defense was superb as it has been all season, but the offense struggled to get going in the loss.
Anoka-Ramsey shot just 27.8 percent overall including 1 for 16 from the three-point line. The shooting woes were offset by a 40-31 edge in rebounds, and forcing 17 Yellowjacket turnovers.
The Golden Rams trailed by ten entering the fourth quarter but cut the deficit to two points with under a minute to play. A steal from Rochester and a layup extended the lead to four points, but the Yellowjackets made three of four free throws down the stretch.
Bella Kanz recorded 19 points and 13 rebounds for Anoka-Ramsey.
Makayla Holten added 13 points, and Jordan McMahon tallied 12 points and nine rebounds.
Anoka-Ramsey finishes the regular season 20-6 overall, 8-4 in the Southern Division. The Golden Rams will host the NJCAA Region XIIIA and XIIIB Tournaments March 2-3 with matchups still to be determined.
