The Anoka-Ramsey Women’s Basketball team went on the road and picked up a key MCAC win 57-45 over M|State Fergus Falls on Wednesday evening.
The win puts the Golden Rams a half game ahead of the Spartans for 3rd in the Southern Division, with Anoka-Ramsey holding a tie-break as they swept the season series with M|State.
Anoka-Ramsey had to hold on vs the pesky Spartans as a 12 point second half lead dwindled to just three points early in the fourth quarter. A 6-0 spurt provided some cushion and Anoka-Ramsey extended the lead back up to 13 late in the game.
Defense was again the catalyst as Anoka-Ramsey’s top ranked defense forced 23 turnovers and held M|State to 33.3 percent shooting and 2 of 14 from the three-point line.
Makayla Holten scored 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting.
Alani Pettis scored 15 points to go with eight rebounds and six steals.
Bella Kanz chipped in with 11 points making 5 of 6 free throws.
Anoka-Ramsey is 17-5 overall, 5-3 in the MCAC Southern Division. Next up is a home matchup with Riverland on Saturday at 1:00pm.
