March 27, 2023
The Anoka-Ramsey Softball team won 2 of 3 games at the Minnesota Classic on Monday, March 20. The Golden Rams defeated Vermilion in games one and three by the scores of 11-3 and 14-2, both games were done after 5 innings. The team lost game a nail biter in game two by the score of 0-1 to Bay College.
The opening game saw the Golden Rams jump out to an early 7-1 1st inning lead and never look back. Molly Gross knocked in two runs with a single and Lyla Galli knocked in two runs with a double. The score was 9-3 ARCC until the bottom of the fifth when Emma Bright and Emma Hurd reached on errors and Gross delivered another 2 RBI hit to finish the game per the 8-run rule. Galli notched her 3rd win of the season striking out 8 and walking zero.
The middle game saw Gross pitch an absolute gem. Molly struck out 12, walking only one batter, gave up only 3 hits (all infield singles), and the only run scored was unearned. This was by far her best game pitched of the year. It was just too bad the team couldn’t produce any runs for her. The Golden Rams tried but couldn’t push any runs across. The team had 11 hits but left 13 runners on base. Maggie Kohl was 3-3 and Maddie Bottineau and Bright each had 2 hits a-piece.
The final game of the day saw Anoka-Ramsey score every inning to end the game in 5 innings. Bottineau pitched for her 2nd win of the season. Maddie only have up two hits and one earned run in 5 innings of work. Offensively the Golden Rams had many hitting stars led by Bright, Hailey Babcock, and Alyssa Meadows with three hits a-piece. Getting two hits were Bottineau and Gross, and Galli hit a rocket over the centerfield fence for her 6th HR of the season.
