Men’s Basketball Beats Rainy River 84-67

The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Basketball team took down another MCAC Northern Division foe by beating Rainy River 84-67 on Saturday evening. The Golden Rams were scheduled to play Northland on Sunday however the game was postponed due to illness within the Northland program.
Against the Voyageurs Anoka-Ramsey led 48-29 at halftime thanks in part to a deep buzzer beating three from Jacob Say.
The Golden Rams shot 51.3 percent in the opening half and out-rebounded Rainy River 26-13.
Rainy River managed to trim the deficit to ten points midway thru the second half, but a quick four point spurt from the Golden Rams provided more cushion, and the lead swelled back up to 19 with five minutes to go.
Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 48.4 percent and held Rainy River to 41.7 percent including 29.2 percent from three.
The Golden Rams also held a 44-34 edge in rebounds and forced 22 Voyageur turnovers.
Say led the team in scoring with 18 points followed by 16 points from Albert Tinnel, 15 from Manny Jingco, and 11 from Rodney Owens.
Owens also added ten rebounds.
The Golden Rams improve to 2-0 on the season
