In this specific collection of poems Rasmussen focuses mainly on the subject of his brother’s suicide. In the opening poem of this book “Trajectory” the reader is sucked into a world that was torn apart then rebuilt in the cycle of grief.
Rasmussen was a 2013 National Book Award Finalist. He is also a receiver of the Walt Whitman Award and the Minnesota Book Award for poetry. His works have appeared in numerous publications. Other honors he received have come from The Bush Foundation, The McKnight Foundation and others.
In addition to his reading, ARCC will offer a free depression screening from 9:00 am-11:00am and 3:00pm-4:00pm in the Legacy Room. There will also be a Mental Wellness fair offered from 10:00am-3pm. Representatives from mental health agencies in the area will also be available to discuss their services during this time.
