Peering through the glass window of the ARCC bookstore it’s ironic how empty it looks after students had to stand in such long lines the first couple weeks of school. Since most students by now have already purchased their books, one wonders, how on earth does the bookstore stay in business?
“The primary reason we exist is for the students to get the textbooks for the semester. After everbodys gotten their textbooks, then we have the food and drinks and if they have forgotten sweatshirts we have those too,” said Noel Linder, ARCC bookstore textbook buyer.
Students report they like coming to shop at the bookstore for convenience.
“I come in here for extra folders, pens, highlighters. Sometimes drinks. It’s easier to pop in here than the cafeteria,” said ARCC student Kaitlyn Manning.
With cash registers and counters everywhere upon entering the bookstore one also wonders what exactly is there to buy in the bookstore and is there anything useful?
“We offer a lot. I don’t think people realize how much we offer,” said Annette Hughes ,the GM buyer for ARCC bookstore.
Apparently the ARCC bookstore is packed full of all kinds of useful items just waiting to be discovered. Items the store carries are: 5 hour energy drinks, umbrellas, sewing kits, hair tyes, bus passes and stamps.
The bookstore even carries a variety of medicines and bandage kits.
“If students are feeling well, they are surprised that we have Tylenol or allergy medicine. Things to kind of help them get through the day and feel better,”said Hughes.
According to Matt Venneman, the Bookstore Manager, the bookstore also carries electronic supplies.
“We have tablets, calculators, chargers, and cables for phones. Headphones are also popular,” said Venneman.
The ARCC bookstore also has some unique items that students might want to check out.
“The left handed notebook is pretty popular. Not too many places have the left handed notebook. We also have the left handed pens, it’s called the lefty pen,”said Hughes.
Of all the options at the AARC bookstore, students really gravitate toward the food and drinks.
“I just like the snacks. I like the ice cream. I also like the giant Kit Kats. The prices are better than the vending machines which is why I go to the bookstore,” said ARCC student Dami Green.
The AARC bookstore is located in the basement of the Student Center. It’s hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30. The online bookstore can be found at the ARCC website.
