The Anoka-Ramsey Volleyball team got off to a hot start by winning three of four matches in the MCAC Crossover this past weekend.
After dropping their opening match to Mesabi 3-0, the Golden Rams picked up victories over Rainy River (3-1), Northland (3-2), and Itasca (3-0).
Leading the way vs. Rainy River was Gracie Wenger with 11 kills, Lindsey Meizo with 12 assists, and Amanda Stepaniak with 14 digs as Anoka-Ramsey won the final three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.
On Saturday Anoka-Ramsey split the first two sets with Northland before winning a marathon third set 30-28. The Pioneers took the fourth, and Anoka-Ramsey finished them off by a 15-11 score in the fifth.
Wenger had 17 kills with a .421 hitting percentage, and Brooke Simonson added nine kills. Stepaniak had 33 assists and 26 digs.
The Golden Rams then swept Itasca to close out the tournament by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-17.
Wenger had 11 kills with Makyhia Evans adding ten and a .769 hitting percentage. Meizo had 26 assists.
Anoka-Ramsey will travel to St. Cloud Tech on Wednesday for a 6:30pm match.
