Golden Rams Earn Conference Road Win

The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s Basketball team travelled to Riverland for their first conference road game of the season and came away with a 71-67 victory.
The Golden Rams jumped out to a 9-1 lead before Riverland tied the score at 9-9. From there the Golden Rams went on a 12 -0 run and built an 18 point lead before settling on a 38-26 advantage at halftime.
The Blue Devils opened the second half on a 10-0 run to pull within two points at 38-36, and cut the deficit to one point at 50-49 with 12:50 to play.
Rodney Owens scored a layup to jump start an 8-0 spurt highlighted by back-to-back threes from Steven Colon as the lead grew back up to 14 points.
Riverland wasn’t done as they pulled back within four points with under a minute to go but the Golden Rams held off the rally with free throws and two key defensive stops for the win.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 50 percent overall and connected on 7 of 18 threes. The Golden RAms also forced 22 turnovers to offset a 13 offensive rebounds from Riverland.
Owens finished with 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting. Colon also scored 16 points making 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.
Albert Tinnel scored ten points while adding six rebounds. Manny Jingco also chipped in ten points.
Anoka-Ramsey is now 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the MCAC.
