Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s Softball Team, the #9 ranked Golden Rams played another home doubleheader on Monday as they begin a last-minute race to the finish line, with eight games scheduled this week. Monday’s match saw them take on Rochester CTC. Before these games, the Golden Rams were 3-0 on the year against the Yellowjackets. The Golden Rams swept their way through Rochester CTC, defeating them in both games and getting the 2-0 sweep. After these wins, the Golden Rams have now won thirteen straight games, and will look to keep their streak going on Tuesday as they face a tough test on the road against #8 St. Cloud.

The Golden Rams got off to another quick start in the first game on Monday, as they led 11-1 after three innings. Molly Gross was the starting pitcher, and she struck out five while allowing just two hits in 3.2 innings of work. With the win, Molly Gross is now 11-3 on the year. Sunny Strait completed the game, throwing 1.1 innings of scoreless, hitless ball while striking out one. From the plate, the Golden Rams stayed hot and got a lot of production from the top of their order. Emma Bright was 4-4 with a double and four RBIs. Sunny Strait was 3-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Mckenna Packard was 2-2 with a double and an RBI. Maddie Bottineau was also 2-2. With an early lead, the Golden Rams defeated the Yellowjackets 14-2 in five innings via the run rule.

In game two, the Yellowjackets led early, as they scored two runs in the top of the 1st, but the Golden Rams rallied back with a four run second inning, going on to eventually defeat the Yellowjackets in five innings in game two. After a rough first inning, starting pitcher Lyla Galli recovered nicely, striking out three while allowing seven hits and just two earned runs. Galli moves to 7-4 on the year with the win. The Golden Rams were immensely effective at the plate, with some of the usual suspects driving in a majority of the runs. Emma Bright was perfect again, going 3-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Sunny Strait went yard again, as she was 2-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Maddie Bottineau was also perfect at the plate again, as she went 3-3 with an RBI.

The Golden Rams kept the train rolling on Monday, winning their thirteenth game in a row and seventh in a row in five innings. Over the last six games, the Golden Rams have outscored their opponents by a margin of 99-5. The Golden Rams will face a much tougher challenge on Tuesday, as they travel to St. Cloud to take on the #8 nationally ranked Cyclones of St. Cloud CTC. With their two wins today, the Golden Rams are now 25-10 on the season. Head Coach Dave Alto, when asked about his thoughts on the doubleheader, said that it was “another great team effort up and down the lineup,” and that he always enjoys watching the Golden Rams play.
