The Anoka-Ramsey Women’s Basketball team held on to defeat Western Tech 63-62 on Saturday afternoon, securing the #4 seed from the Southern Division in the NJCAA Region Tournament.

The Golden Rams led by 11 entering the fourth quarter and survived after Western Tech cut the deficit to two with 3:29 to play.

Two Hailey Babcock free throws pushed the lead back to four points, and after a Western Tech basket, Piper Flemming knocked down a three to put Anoka-Ramsey up by five.

Another Cavalier basket, followed by another Flemming three gave the Golden Rams a 63-57 lead with 1:44 to go.

Western Tech responded with a field goal, and then a made three with six seconds to play pulling within one point but were unable to foul at the end, preserving the one point win for the Golden Rams.

Anoka-Ramsey finished tied with Western Tech for the #4 seed but won the tie-break, pushing Western Tech to the #5 seed.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 39.1 percent overall and made eight threes to just four for Western Tech.

Flemming finished with 15 points making 5 of 12 from three while adding ten rebounds, four steals, four blocks, and three assists.

Mikayla Kanenwisher and Babcock each tallied 13 points, and CeCe Bell scored ten.

Anoka-Ramsey finishes the regular season with a 15-9 overall record, and will face Northland in the NJCAA Region XIIIB Tournament on Saturday, February 26.  Tournament details can be found at the link below.
