Nucleus Clinic at the Anoka-Ramsey Coon Rapids campus opened this semester. The clinic’s main services include annual wellness exams, access to birth control, and pregnancy tests.
The Nucleus Clinic is located on the Coon Rapids campus in L130 below the library. The clinic is open Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. Walk-in appointments are welcome and appointments after this time can be made by calling the main clinic on Coon Rapids Boulevard.
The on-campus clinic is open to all Anoka-Ramsey students, staff and faculty. There is no age minimum.
The clinic works to make its services affordable to students. Students who are single adults and make less than $2,000 a month are eligible for free care.
“It’s confidential, it’s affordable, and we thought we would be more accessible if we were on the campus of the college,“ said Becky Fink, the executive director of Nucleus Clinic.
Sandy Kohler, the dean of Nursing at Anoka-Ramsey, brought the Nucleus Clinic to Anoka-Ramsey to help students pursue their education in complete health.
“When you look at the statistics the number one reason young woman drop out of college is, according to the research, an increase in dependence… because they get pregnant and have babies,” said Kohler. “We want to impact students on a global level. We can do that through education, we can do that through providing health services, we can do that through open discussion and making sexual and reproductive health less taboo.”
Nucleus Clinic is having a free STI testing day for the Anoka-Ramsey community on April 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in L130.
