ARCC Women’s Basketball season of 2015-2016 has just started, with 4 scrimmages, 4 wins, and 3 losses.
The first game was on Nov. 6 at Madison College. The Golden Rams Women’s Basketball team lost 59-70. The girls were up 29-27 at halftime, but in the final period they were out scored 26-11 and only hitting 3 of 17 from the floor. Rashonna Thomas had the leading score of 18 points. Lexus Hughes had 15 points and 7 rebounds.
“The primary focus these past weeks in both practice and games have been defense and getting on the boards,” said Ema Eltag, ARCC basketball player.
Making sure they don’t get out rebounded is an important thing in the game.
“My biggest obstacle this season has been trying to work with the shot clock since I am in no way familiar with it from high school,” said Eltag.
Time management is a challenge for Eltag as a student athlete, coming home from games at 1 a.m. and getting up at 6 a.m. for classes.
The third game was on Nov. 13 against Dakota College at Bottineau. ARCC won 75-71. At half the Golden Rams were trailing the Lumberjacks 49-41, but eventually tied it up 71-71 with just under a minute left, then of course took the win. Daron Mainville had the leading score of 16.
The girls won their most recent game on Nov. 29 against Gogebic Community College with a final score of 72-61.
